Process Specification

Process Specification (see drawing)

Biological reactor is the basic component of the Bioclar wastewater treatment plants. Within a single vessel, the reactor combines an activating section A, i.e. a modified activation process using a culture of an activated sludge mixture removing nitrogen and phosphorus, and a separating section S where the activated sludge is separated from clarified water.

The activating vessel A consists of three zones and sectors with specific conditions for biological treatment: the anaerobic-fermentation zone AF, denitrification zone D, and nitrification zone N.

The zones are linked via defined openings and an overflow and internal re-circulation piping IR. Mixing, circulation and re-circulation of the activated mixture is provided by compressed air delivered by a fan or high-pressure ventilator, which is the only rotating mechanical equipment in the system. The treatment process also includes mechanical pre-treatment MP, biological treatment, air distribution system ADS, surplus sludge handling, electrical equipment, and control system. If required, a tertiary final treatment process may be supplemented.
